Two school complexes serve the Kapolei region – the Kapolei Complex for Kapolei and Makakilo, and the Campbell Complex for Ewa Beach communities.
The region’s three newest public schools are Kapolei Elementary, Kapolei Middle and Kapolei High School. Kapolei High School, the newest of the three schools, graduated its first senior class in 2004. It is a "breaking ranks" school that personalizes the students learning experiences and fosters team teaching. The school provides dynamic and flexible learning environments ("family pods" and "neighborhoods" instead of classrooms) where students cultivate a sense of group as well as individual responsibility. Kapolei High School emphasizes project-based instruction with a focus on science, technology, environment, and culture and arts.
Kapolei also has a small but growing contingent of private schools, including college prep Island Pacific Academy in the City of Kapolei and Seagull Schools for pre-school and K-2.
Upper division schools provide a continuum of post-secondary education at Leeward Community College, UH West Oahu and The University of Phoenix. Chaminade University is also offering selected graduate courses in Kapolei. A permanent UH West Oahu campus in Kapolei is planned.
